SUMMARY:
The national demand for wood has intensified in recent decades. In this context, the need arises to meet regional demands to stimulate increased productivity of forest plantations in previously unimaginable regions. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the productivity of native and exotic forest species and Eucalyptus clones under different irrigation regimes in the Brazilian semi-arid region, in an experimental plantation aimed at supplying raw material for the furniture industry in the Marco region, in the Ceará State, Brazil. The experiment was conducted from March 2011 to November 2021, in a plantation located in a plot of the Irrigated Perimeter of Baixo Acaraú, inserted between the cities of Acaraú and Marco, both in the State of Ceará. The collection of sample trees took place in the year 2021, when four species of native trees, five species of exotic trees, and five clones of Eucalyptus sp., all aged approximately 11 years, were selected. For each species or clone, six trees were selected, submitted to two initial irrigation regimes (up to 12 months after planting; up to 36 months after planting). After selection, survival was counted, and the dendrometric variables total and commercial height, diameter at breast height (DBH), volume, basal area, shape factor and mean annual increment (MAI) were obtained. Among the native species, Pau D'arco and Angico showed the highest productivity. For exotic species, Acacia and Chixá stood out. As for Eucalyptus sp. clones, the best performance was observed for clones VE 41 and VE 38. The irrigation regime for up to 12 months after planting proved to be sufficient for the establishment and growth of the evaluated individuals.
