SUMMARY:

The objective of this work was to agroeconomically evaluate the production of green mass of coriander and kale and their components when fertilized with equitable amounts of biomass of hairy woodrose and roostertree, spontaneous species of the Caatinga biome, in two cropping seasons. Four experiments were conducted between the years 2020 and 2021, with coriander to December 2020 to January 2021 and September to October 2021; and kale from September to November 2021 and from January to March 2022, at the Experimental Farm Rafael Fernandes of the Universidade Federal Rural do Semi-Árido (UFERSA), located in the district of Lagoinha, 20 km from the municipality of Mossoró-RN. The experimental design used was in randomized complete blocks with five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted of equitable amounts of hairy woodrose and roostertree at doses of 16, 29, 42, 55 and 68 t ha-1, on a dry basis. In each experiment, a treatment without fertilization (control) was used. The maximum agronomic efficiencies achieved were 4.58 t ha-1 of green mass yield of and 4.7 number of bunches per square meter (m²) of coriander and for kale there was a productivity of commercial leaves of 16.92 t ha-1 and 7 bundles of leaves m-2, were possible with the incorporation of the following equitable biomass amounts of 49.56 and 49.52 t ha-1 and 56.41 and 48, 63 t ha-1 of Merremia aegyptia and Calotropis procera incorporated into the soil. The maximum optimized economic efficiencies obtained in terms of net income of 30,243.92 and 47,841.44 BRL t ha-1 with rates of return of BRL 4.68 and 2.47 for each BRL invested in the coriander and kale cultivation were possible with the incorporation of equitable biomass amounts of 42.68 and 41.64 t ha-1 and 53.26 and 64.31 t ha-1 of the green manures added to the soil. The use of Merremia aegyptia and Calotropis procera biomass from the Caatinga biome proved to be a viable technology for producers who practice the monocropping of coriander and kale in a semi-arid environment.
