SUMMARY:

The cultivation of exotic fruit trees with high market potential and nutritional and biochemical
characteristics that are beneficial to human health has been gaining prominence in recent years.
The increase in demand and consumption of the fruits of these plants is explained by the change
in the population's new eating habits, however, it is necessary to produce sustainably. In the
current scenario, the culture of dragon fruit stands out, which is a rustic cactus with adaptive
characteristics that guarantee its development in regions that have problems with water
limitations. These advantages mean that dragon fruit is seen as an alternative for cultivation in
these regions. However, in addition to water scarcity, other factors can harm the development and
productive yields of plants, such as limited knowledge about the phenological stages of crops, the
quality of the fruits, the productivity of the area and the nutritional management adopted, the lack
of adequate information about these factors makes dragon fruit cultivation unfeasible in these
regions. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the phenological, productive and
nutritional aspects of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus costarricenses) irrigated with fish farming
effluents and with organomineral fertilizer produced under the climatic conditions of the seminar.
Three experiments were carried out. The three experiments were conducted in the teaching
orchard of the Universidade Federal Rural Do Semi-Árido. The treatments were distributed in a
randomized block, in a 3 x 3 factorial scheme, with 3 blocks and 2 plants per plot. The treatments
consisted of 3 types of water (supply water 100% (C0%), fish farm effluent water 100% (C100%)
and a mixture of waters: (50% effluent + 50% supply water) (C50%) and two sources of fertilizer
(bovine manure and NPK formulated 16-16-16). In the first experiment, the phenological stages
observed were, emission of floral buds, opening and closing of flowers, setting and development
of fruits and physiological maturation point ideal for harvesting. In which it was observed that the
climatic conditions presented during the years of cultivation influenced the phenology of the red
dragon fruit, resulting in differences in time in the phenophases in relation to the periods observed
in the two years of cultivation. 7 reproductive phenological stages were observed of red pitaya

cultivated in semiarid climatic conditions. In the second experiment, the production and physical-
chemical characteristics of the fruits were evaluated. Given the results found, it was observed that

the variables analyzed were favored in treatments irrigated with water 100% of fish farming
effluent ( C100%) and the water mixture: (50% effluent + 50% supply water) (C50%), together
with mineral and organic fertilizer. It was observed that in treatments that were not fertilization,
however, irrigated with 100% water from aquaculture effluent (C100%) and the mixture of
waters: (50% effluent + 50% water supply) (C50%) the characteristics production, physical and
post- harvest conditions of the fruits were superior to the treatment irrigated with water supply.
In the third experiment, the biochemical responses and nutritional content of the plants were
evaluated. Thus, it was found that biochemical variables showed increased levels in plants that
were irrigated with water from fish farming and fertilized with both mineral fertilizer and organic
compounds. The years of cultivation influenced the nutritional contents of the plants, the highest
levels were observed from the pruning of production in the second year of cultivation. Red dragon
fruit plants (Hylocereus costarricenses) showed the ability to absorb sodium (Na) and calcium
(Ca) present in the soil and convert them into benefits for the organoleptic characteristics of the
fruits.
